(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović strongly condemned the monstrous murder of an elderly woman in a returnee village in the area of Mount Ozren.
"I was deeply shaken by the news of the heinous crime in the returnee village on Ozren near Lukavac. The competent authorities must determine the causes of death of returnee Jela Pejić as soon as possible.
The brutal murder of an innocent returnee deserves the strongest condemnation and punishment.
Returnees throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina must have full security and protection.
Competent institutions have an obligation to ensure conditions in which no citizen will feel unprotected or threatened.
The right to a safe return is guaranteed by Annex 7 of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I call on the competent police and judicial institutions to act urgently, to discover and sanction the perpetrator of this serious criminal offense with the strictest punishment as soon as possible.
I express my deepest condolences to the family of the murdered Jela Pejić," Bećirović stated.
