Bećirović: There will be no consequences in Turkey-Russia relations, the EU is becoming increasingly isolated

The Director of the International Institute for Middle Eastern and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) Ljubljana, Dr. Zijad Bećirović, told the Patria agency that the attacks in Ankara and Berlin will not have consequences on the relations between Turkey and Russia.

- Russia and Turkey have entered into a kind of alliance. This could also be seen from the reactions regarding the assassination of the Russian ambassador in Ankara. The reactions were unexpectedly mild and not characteristic of official Moscow. Erdogan's rhetoric is increasingly directed towards Moscow and cooperation with Putin. In a way, the EU is becoming increasingly isolated, which will probably lead to even greater loneliness for the EU after Donald Trump's entry into the White House - Bećirović told NAP.

He believes that the world will continue to face the threat of terrorism, and will continue to work on solving the consequences, not the causes, of why all this is happening.
