"Baščaršijske noći" opened with a concert by cellist Ana Rucner

The Baščaršijske noći festival will last from July 1 to 31 this year, and will include 24 events. The festival begins with tonight's performance by Croatian cellist Ana Rucner at 9:30 PM at the Bosniak Institute, as well as an exhibition of paintings by Merima Ivković at the "Roman Petrović" Gallery, reports Patria.

Unlike last year, when the number of festival days was reduced, this year the organizers have made an additional effort to hold the traditional cultural event in the capital city.

Given that it is the month of Ramadan, a part of the program will feature devotional songs performed by the Sejfullah choir from Konjic. For the indispensable spirit of tradition in BiH, sevdalinka, Damir Imamović and Sevdah takht, whose performance is planned for July 19, Mustafa Šantić and Sevdi Mustafa band on July 30, and young performers at the Sevdalinka Evening at the festival's closing on July 31 at Kolobara han, will take care of it.

Sarajevo will also host numerous folklore artists from Europe this summer, as part of the International Folklore Festival.

In addition to musical performances, the Festival will also feature exhibitions, poetry evenings, and plays. Traditionally, the programs will be held at several locations in the capital of BiH, including the Bosnian Cultural Center, Svrzina kuća, Kolobara han, Dom mladih, where Edo Maajka will perform on July 22, etc., and admission to most events will be free, reports NAP.
