Baručija: US supports BiH on the path to the EU and NATO alliance

(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's integration into the EU and NATO Alliance, the issue of the Election Law, US-BiH cooperation in all areas through already established and future projects, are clear indicators that the US wants to continue to help Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The International Republican Institute (IRI), with its projects alongside other respectable organizations, which is present in our homeland daily, has played a very important role in these processes and in refocusing Bosnia and Herzegovina towards US officials, "said Aida Baručija, a member of the Independent Bloc in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the official meetings between representatives of the US and the Club for European Integration and Security Issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which recently visited the US.

"The Club for European Integration and Security Issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of nine different political options, of which the Independent Bloc is a part. These are opportunities to try to do as much as possible for Bosnia and Herzegovina in a direct way. The talks reflected the significant influence of the US on events in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their renewed focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Congressmen and officials from the US with whom discussions were held promised their commitment and participation in this important process for BiH," added MP Aida Baručija, reminding that a series of meetings were held for the delegation of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly with US officials, among which it is necessary to highlight the meetings at the State Department, Congress, USAID, NED, and the Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

„The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, non-profit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions worldwide. The topics of discussion were related to their projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBiH) is one of the most significant non-governmental organizations outside Bosnia and Herzegovina that promotes and represents the interests of our only homeland, but also a very important voice for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the American Capitol Hill. We discussed a number of problems and possible solutions, as well as the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, which this organization dignifiedly marked.

I took the opportunity to call on colleagues, regardless of party, national, religious, or any other affiliation, to support the adoption of this Law in our Parliament, as it is a civilizational act and a moral obligation for all of us, given that these are undisputed and judicially proven facts for which the perpetrators and their masterminds received over 700 years in prison. If they do not do so, then I expect the High Representative to use his powers and prevent the institutional display and spread of glorification, mockery, and denial of the Srebrenica genocide," concluded Aida Baručija.
