Barack Obama lands multi-million dollar memoir deal

Former US President Barack Obama will appear in public for the first time today, three months after completing his presidential duties, reports Patria.

Obama chose Chicago, the city where he delivered his last speech as president and where his political career began, for his first post-presidential appearance.

Barack Obama and his wife have already signed a deal with a publisher for the release of dual memoirs worth as much as $65 million.

He will meet with young leaders at the University of Chicago campus to talk about promoting local communities.

- I think it reflects his emotional and intellectual attachment to the city he considers his home - Chicago Mayor Ram Emanuel, who was also Obama's first chief of staff, told Reuters.

Obama also chose Chicago as the city where his presidential library will be located.
