Economic analyst Igor Gavran told the BH News Agency Patria that he now expects commercial banks to reschedule existing loans for citizens and businesses in the flooded areas, to avoid delays in their repayment.
Although some analysts have doubted that, due to the difficult situation in the country caused by floods and landslides, commercial banks might further complicate the situation by raising interest rates on commercial loans, Gavran believes there is no basis for that. Besides, he says, it would not be wise not only for moral but also for business reasons.
- Pressure and repayments under more rigorous conditions would only result in their complete cessation. People are in a difficult situation. It is impossible to talk about reconstruction and rehabilitation, and at the same time about repaying loans. This is the time when banks must create more favorable loan repayment conditions - said Gavran, writes Patria.
