Banja Luka: Of 138 drivers removed from traffic by police, as many as 122 were driving drunk

Police in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska fined 1,196 drivers in just two days. A total of 138 drivers were removed from traffic, of which as many as 122, or just over 88 percent, were under the influence of alcohol.

Enhanced controls were carried out in the areas of East Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Doboj, the Patrija news agency reports.

The RS Ministry of Interior announced that during a three-day operation at the beginning of October, out of 1,366 controlled traffic participants, police sanctioned 1,196 drivers for committing violations.

Due to exceeding the permitted speed limit, a total of 326 drivers were sanctioned. Nearly 400 drivers were not wearing seat belts, 93 vehicles were not technically sound..., NAP reports.
