Bajtal: BiH citizens want peace, and the only viable guarantee of that peace is NATO

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Philosophical writer and independent researcher Esad Bajtal assesses that in normal politics there should be no concessions, but rather both sides should offer something that will be a common denominator for all sides.

Unfortunately, Bajtal said, unhealthy politics are at play in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which offer citizens nothing useful.

"The key interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the historical context of the last 30 years, is the NATO umbrella," Bajtal assessed in an interview for FACE TV, adding that NATO protection would be beneficial for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of ethnic and religious affiliation, as it would ensure peace.

"BiH citizens want peace, and the only viable guarantee of that peace is NATO," Bajtal said.

Commenting on the accusations of BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik, who emphasizes that he does not want to give consent for BiH to become a member of NATO because the largest military alliance in the world bombed Serbia, Bajtal assesses that Dodik should first answer the question of why that bombing happened.

"Does that gentleman you mention ask who bombed Sarajevo, who bombed Tuzla, who bombed this entire country, where he wanted to bomb it, and in whose name he did it?" Bajtal said.

"That bombing crossed all boundaries, even of war meaning and logic," he added.

Bajtal assessed that NATO found itself as someone who stopped further bloodshed, and that this military alliance should be a civic and national interest for the people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
