Avdović: Where there is smoke, there is fire, OHR is listening to public reactions on the Election Law

 SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The BiH public is serious, what we are doing as journalists is serious and no one would dare to prejudge things or criticize in advance", stated journalist Erol Avdović.

"There is that danger and I fear that Mr. Schmidt will have to, in due course, if he continues with these activities, if he does not speak out, have to answer some sensitive questions, primarily who and what he represents, considering that resolutions have recently been passed in the Bundestag and the European Parliament."

He believes it would be unserious to reduce everything to Čović.

"He of course stirred all this up, it started with him, we know what his positions are. However, behind this could be a more complex process, a more complex demand. Unfortunately, in Europe today, we still have those tones that are detrimental to BiH and that lean on xenophobia and Islamophobia."

Avdović says that HDZ is creating deep disorder and deepening divisions.

"This means that the electoral restructuring of the Federation is going in the wrong direction, against European values and standards. I would venture to say that we have once again reached the point where we can use the word electoral apartheid, which is not something to be proud of."

Regarding the consultations that took place yesterday, he says it is a probing of the ground and public reaction.

"What is called the integrity package is put forward, which is what everyone would agree on. On the other hand, there is talk of this other, anticipated blockade or what Mr. Čović has been announcing for days as post-election escalation of tensions in BiH. One needs to be very careful about this, and it should be discussed meticulously, but after the elections."

He states that the House of Peoples should be formed in a way that prevents the affirmation of apartheid, i.e., the dominance of the majority over a political or ethnic minority.

Avdović points out that technical changes to the Election Law are less painful.

"I think they are possible, there is almost a united stance that this should be done. It is no coincidence that it was all called the integrity package. Everyone agrees that there were frauds, that it is not enough to just take someone's word for it."
