Australians entered 2025 with spectacular fireworks

(Patria) - Australia's largest city, Sydney, celebrated the New Year with a famous fireworks display over the harbour, and next, Asian countries will enter 2025.

The fireworks started at midnight, at 2 PM Central European Time, with the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House in the background.

Nine tons of pyrotechnics were used this year. The fireworks were launched from 264 different points, many more than in previous years.

Using innovative technology, pyrotechnics in the sky formed shapes like animals and the word "Sydney" was written, reports dpa.

It is believed that more than a million people arrived in the harbour, some of them arriving as early as the morning to secure the best spots in nearby parks.

Australians also welcomed 2025 with fireworks in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and other cities.

The first major city to welcome the New Year was New Zealand's largest city, Auckland, at 12 PM Central European Time, or two hours before Sydney.

Midnight was celebrated there with seven songs synchronized with a show of lights, lasers, and fireworks.

The New Year in Auckland was marked with 500 kilograms of pyrotechnics launched from the Sky Tower, the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

New Zealanders began planning for this event six months ago, and for the performance, they had to lay 14 kilometers of power cables and program 1,500 lines of code.

The first inhabited place on Earth to enter 2025 was the Pacific atoll of Kiritimati, part of Kiribati, and the last will be American Samoa.

Next after Australia is Asia, where attractive fireworks displays are also expected.

Japan and South Korea will be the first to enter 2025 at 4 PM Central European Time, followed an hour later by Taiwan, where a pyrotechnic and light show is planned from the famous Taipei 101 skyscraper.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysians will watch fireworks from the Petronas Towers, once the tallest building in the world.

An hour later, in Bangkok, Thais will celebrate the arrival of the year 2568 according to their calendar.
