Assad condemns attack and says: The savage terror France experienced, Syrians have endured for 5 years

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad condemned the attacks carried out in Paris on Friday and stated that such terrorist acts are similar to those faced by his people in the civil war, but claimed that French policy contributed to the "spread of terrorism," reports the news agency Patria.  

-The savage terror that France suffered is similar to what the Syrian people have been enduring for more than five years, said the Syrian president for state media.

Assad also stated on Saturday that French policy in the Middle East contributed to the "spread of terrorism."

-The wrong policy adopted by Western countries, especially France, in the region (the Middle East) contributed to the spread of terrorism, he emphasized, as reported by the official Syrian news agency Sana.

Assad conveyed a nearly identical message after the attack on the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in January.
