(Patria) - Armenia and Azerbaijan have traded accusations of opening fire around the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region in a conflict that has killed a total of seven soldiers, Reuters reported.
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense stated that three soldiers were killed in a clash near the disputed Lachin corridor, a key route into Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia that passes through Azerbaijani territory. Armenia's Ministry of Defense stated that four of its soldiers were killed and six others were wounded.
Yerevan had previously accused Azerbaijan of opening fire on Armenian troops who were carrying out engineering work near the village of Tegh in the southern Armenian province of Syunik. It was stated that its forces took "countermeasures," without providing details.
Tegh is the last village on the Lachin corridor in Armenia before it enters Azerbaijani territory. Baku said its troops came under "intense fire" from Armenian troops stationed in the Syunik province.
