Arijana Memić reveals details from the verdict: Arrest Alisa Mutap

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – At today's protest gathering, organized for the ninth time by the family of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, a poignant address was given by his sister Arijana Memić. She demanded the arrest of Alisa Mutap.

She read parts of the acquittal verdict of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, which relate to Alisa Mutap, a witness who was in the company of the young man on February 8, 2016, in Velika aleja.

In the verdict, which Patria had access to, it is stated that the testimony of Alisa Mutap regarding the events after Dženan sustained injuries was „unconvincing and confusing.“

- During the hearing of this witness, the court gained the impression that the witness is not telling the whole truth, that she is concealing certain facts, that she is unsure of what she is stating; the court did not give credence to the testimony of this witness, especially when considered in connection with other evidence presented – it is stated in the verdict.

The court accepted the findings of neuropsychiatrist Abdulah Kučukalić, who, along with two colleagues, ruled out amnesia in Alisa Mutap. Kučukalić claimed that Mutap could have had partial amnesia, but certainly not total amnesia.

- It is clear to the court that witness Alisa Mutap did not have injuries that could cause total amnesia, nor could this traumatic event have caused it; the expert clearly stated that the witness could have had fragmentary memory loss, but not total amnesia, but that such fragmentary memory lapses would quickly return, which, in the opinion of this court, leads to the conclusion that the witness knows what happened but is consciously concealing it – the verdict states.

Furthermore, the court states that no finding for Alisa Mutap showed a concussion.

- The court became convinced that Alisa Mutap knows what really happened but does not want to say it. Her very demeanor before the court was marked by uncertainty and nervousness, and ultimately only part of her testimony was accepted, in which she stated that she was together with the deceased Dženan Memić in Velika aleja opposite number 4, as this is an undisputed fact confirmed by witnesses Džafer Hrvat and Nebojša Veljović.   

We remind you that Mutap, as a witness for the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, appeared only once during the trial, while at the beginning she attended the hearings with members of her family. Because of this, the court did not allow Mutap to be a witness called by the defense of the Seferovićs.
