Araghchi: Damage from war with Israel is 'serious', Tehran not preparing for negotiations with Washington

(Patria) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Thursday that the damage from the twelve-day war with Israel is 'serious', as Iran begins to assess the impact of the conflict, reported Al Arabiya.

"A detailed damage assessment is being carried out by experts from the Atomic Energy Organization (of Iran)," he told state television, adding that "discussion on seeking compensation" is now high on the government's agenda.

Araghchi firmly denied speculation that Iran is preparing to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States.

"Some speculation about the resumption of negotiations should not be taken seriously," he said.
"I would like to make it clear that no agreement, arrangement or discussion has been reached to start new negotiations. A plan to start negotiations has not yet been established."

Araghchi said that the law suspending cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog is now "binding" after being adopted by lawmakers and approved by the high oversight body.

"The law approved by (the parliament) and today approved by the Guardian Council... binds us and there is no doubt about its implementation," he told state television yesterday.
"From now on, our relationship and cooperation with (the International Atomic Energy Agency) will take on a new form."
