Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina condemns genocide in Gaza: Israel uses prohibited warfare methods with the aim of the final extermination of Palestinians

(Patria) - The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina raises its voice and joins international organizations and institutions, national governments, brave and responsible journalists, intellectuals, and academics in condemning the genocidal war waged by the Israeli oppressive regime of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the Palestinian people.

"The Israeli government is using prohibited methods of warfare, including the systematic, deliberate, and deeply dehumanizing starvation of the population of Gaza, with the aim of the final extermination of Palestinians from their historical land.

Following the brutal terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which cannot be justified in any way, came the indiscriminate retaliation of the Israeli occupation regime, which is still ongoing, turning into an example of genocide, urbicide, culturalide, and eliticid. Some Western allies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right government have begun to notice and criticize this, facing resistance from their own populations to further support for the Israeli regime. However, despite growing voices of resistance not only in the world but also within Israel itself, it continues with the fanatical production of a culture of death, without any justifiable military reason. This is a sign of a dangerous descent into barbarism that requires a prompt response from the progressive part of humanity," the statement reads.

The Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on those responsible for international justice to stop the criminal biological destruction of the Palestinian people, using all available legal, political, humanitarian, and other mechanisms.

"We demand that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina resolutely and consensually state its position on the illegal aggression of the Israeli regime against the Palestinian state that is disappearing before our eyes.

We demand that the process of building a just two-state solution, which will enable a dignified life for the Palestinian and Jewish peoples, be initiated immediately and without calculation, with the prior punishment of both the perpetrators of Hamas's October seventh terror and the architects and perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide by the current Israeli regime. Without this gesture of international justice, we, as a human community, are entering an era of impunity and the disturbing triumph of raw, unbridled force and fascist destruction of an entire people," concluded the statement signed by Muris Čičić, President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
