NBC and CBS polls show Harris leading Trump by an increasing margin

(Patria) - U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris led Republican rival Donald Trump by five percentage points in an NBC News poll released on Sunday that showed respondents have begun to view her more positively since she emerged as the presidential candidate.

Asked about their views on Harris since she became the candidate, 48 percent of 1,000 registered voters surveyed said they viewed her positively, compared to 32 percent in July, the largest jump in favorability ratings for any politician polled by NBC since President George W. Bush's approval rose after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Reuters reported.

When asked about Trump, 40 percent of respondents said they viewed him positively, compared to 38 percent in July. The poll, conducted from September 13 to 17, has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

A separate CBS News poll showed Harris leading Trump by four percentage points, 52 percent to 48 percent, among likely voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.

The findings are largely in line with other recent national polls, including those conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, which show a tight race ahead of the November 5 election.

While national surveys offer important signals about voter sentiment, the results of the Electoral College from state to state determine the winner, and several swing states are likely to be decisive.

In the CBS poll of 3,129 registered voters surveyed from September 18 to 20, Harris gained two percentage points after a 50-50 split in August, boosted by her performance in the September 10 debate and better economic news.
