POLLS: Biden trails Trump in states that will likely decide the election winner

(Patria) - Democratic President Joe Biden trails Donald Trump in five of six key states exactly one year before the U.S. election, polls released on Sunday showed.

The polls were conducted by the New York Times and Siena College. Trump leads in Arizona, Georgia,
Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania, while Biden leads in Wisconsin, the polls showed. Biden
defeated Trump in all six states in the 2020 election. Trump now leads by an average of 48 to 44 percent across the six states, the polls showed, according to Reuters.

Polls measuring national popularity have consistently shown Biden and Trump in a tight race, but presidential elections are usually decided by outcomes in a handful of so-called swing states.

Biden's victories in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, states where
Trump won in 2016, were key to his 2020 victory. Biden will likely need wins in many of those states to win re-election.

Biden's multiracial and multigenerational coalition appears to be fraying, the polls showed. Voters under 30 favor Biden, who is 80 years old, by only one percentage point, his lead among Hispanic voters is single-digit, and his advantage in urban areas is half of Trump's advantage in rural regions, the polls showed.

Black voters, a key demographic for Biden, now show 22 percent support for Trump in these states, a level the New York Times reported has not been seen for a Republican in presidential politics in modern times.
