Donald Trump remains the favorite for the US Republican Party's presidential nomination, according to a poll jointly conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News, reports the Patria News Agency.
Currently, 33 percent of the Republican electorate wants Trump as their presidential candidate. In second place is retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. The poll clearly showed that classic politicians are increasingly unattractive to Americans; about 70 percent of voters believe politicians cannot be trusted, and 60 percent believe the political system is dysfunctional.
In third place among Republican candidates with eight percent support is Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and brother of George W. Bush. At the beginning of the year, Bush was considered the main candidate for nomination in the Republican primaries.
Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have seven percent support each, while other serious candidates (Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Scott Walker, and Chris Christie) have less than five percent support.
Among the candidates for the Democratic Party nomination, Hillary Clinton remains in the lead, but her rating is steadily declining. Clinton currently has the support of 42 percent of Democratic voters, and this is the first time her support has fallen below 50 percent. In second place with 24 percent is Bernie Sanders, whose rating has increased by 10 percent since July. Third is the current US Vice President Joe Biden with 21 percent, who, however, has not yet decided whether he wants to run at all, writes Index.
