Americans Watched Easter Mass from Cars or Homes

(Patria) – Americans spent Easter Sunday in their homes as the coronavirus epidemic in the US continues to claim lives.

So far, about 22,115 people have died in the US due to coronavirus, and a total of 560,433 have been infected.

42 US states have introduced strict stay-at-home measures that have not changed even during the holidays. While some Americans watched Easter Mass from their cars where it was organized, others followed the television or online broadcast of the Mass in their homes.

The evangelical Life Tabernacle megachurch in Louisiana ignored the quarantine measure imposed by the state government by holding Mass on Easter Sunday. 'Our rights come from our creator, not from a governing body,' Pastor Tony Spell told Reuters.

Reuters also writes that legal disputes have been initiated against the state in several states due to the ban on attending church services.

In the US, a daily average of about 2,000 deaths has been recorded in the last 4 days alone, which is likely a lower number than the actual one, considering that epicenters of infection like New York are struggling to cope with statistics due to the large number of infected and dead that changes by the minute.
