American publicly disowns neo-Nazi son due to riots in Virginia

Pearce Tefft, the father of Peter Tefft, a member of the white nationalist group responsible for violence on American streets, has publicly disowned his son, world media report, Patria News Agency reports.

US President Donald Trump also reacted to the violence that resulted in three deaths and about 20 injured, but in his reaction, he condemned "violence on all sides," but did not explicitly mention white neo-Nazis and racists.

This, of course, caused delight among the far-right, who interpreted Trump's reaction as support for their own goals.

- My name is Pearce Tefft and I am writing this to everyone, and it concerns my youngest son, Peter Tefft - a self-proclaimed white nationalist who has appeared in several reports in recent months. On Friday night, my son traveled to Charlottesville and was interviewed there while marching with other white nationalists who allegedly intended to kill someone.

I, along with all his brothers and sisters and his entire family, want to publicly reject my son's actions and rhetoric, which are evil, racist, and full of hate. We don't know exactly where he picked up such beliefs. He did not learn them at home.

I have shared my home and my heart with friends and acquaintances of all races, genders, and faiths. I have taught all my children that all men and women are born equal. That we should love one another equally.

Peter has clearly decided to forget these lessons, to my regret and to the regret of the entire family. We have been silent until now, but now we see that it was a mistake. The silence of good people allowed the Nazis to develop the first time, and the silence of good people allows them to develop now.

Peter Tefft, my son, is no longer welcome at family gatherings. I pray that my wayward son will renounce his beliefs and return home. Then, and only then, will I accept him. His hateful beliefs bring hateful rhetoric to his brothers and sisters, cousins, and parents. Why are we blamed for him? Again, he learned nothing of his beliefs at home. We do not accept, have never accepted, and will never accept his perverted worldview.

He once joked: "The thing about fascists is, it's not that we don't believe in free speech. You can say whatever you want. We'll throw you in the oven."

Peter, you will have to throw our bodies in the oven too. Please, son, renounce hate and embrace love - his father told his son in a letter.
