America withdraws staff from Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, closes embassies, American citizens must fend for themselves

(Patria) - The United States today ordered some government employees and their family members to leave Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq and Jordan and closed several diplomatic missions across the region due to the escalation of conflict with Iran.

The American mission in Saudi Arabia was closed this morning after a drone attack, and Americans in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran were ordered to continue to hide. The US Embassy in Kuwait announced that it will remain closed until further notice and that all regular and emergency consular appointments have been cancelled.

In Israel, the US Embassy announced that it is unable to evacuate or directly assist Americans wishing to leave the country and advised citizens to make their own safety plans.

The measures come at a time when the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran is spreading across the region, leading to increased security measures at American diplomatic facilities and restrictions on visits to military facilities.
