The United States dropped the largest bomb ever used in war on Afghanistan.
The US military used the GBU-43/B MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb), which was nicknamed the "mother of all bombs". This non-nuclear bomb was used for the first time in the history of warfare - and it was dropped on personnel and tunnels of the so-called Islamic State.
The bomb weighs 9,529 kilograms and was dropped in the Achin district, located in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft, and damage assessment is currently underway, CNN reports.
The MOAB is being used for the first time, although it was developed during the Iraq War.
