(Patria) - The US Ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, has been banned from meeting with members of the French government after failing to appear at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier that day, where he was summoned due to comments about the murder of a French far-right activist last week, diplomatic sources said on Monday, Reuters reported last night.
"After the US Embassy published comments on a tragedy that occurred in France, which concerns only our national public debate that we refuse to be exploited, Ambassador Charles Kushner was summoned to the ministry today. He did not appear," the source added.
French far-right activist Quentin Deranque was beaten to death in a fight with alleged far-left activists, in an incident that shocked the nation and was dubbed the "French Charlie Kirk moment," referring to the shooting of an American conservative activist last year.
The US Embassy in France and the Bureau of Counterterrorism at the US State Department announced that they are monitoring the case, warning on the social network X that "the violent radical left scheme is on the rise" and should be treated as a public safety threat.
"Faced with this apparent misunderstanding of the basic expectations of an ambassador who has the honor of representing his country, the minister requested that he no longer be allowed direct access to members of the French government," the source added.
This was the second time Kushner failed to appear at the French ministry after being summoned. In August 2025, he was asked to explain himself at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs after publicly expressing concern about the rise of antisemitic acts in France and criticizing the French authorities for not doing enough against it.
