US official: Plans underway for international forces to enter Gaza

(Patria) - The United States wants to establish basic stabilization in Gaza and planning is underway for the entry of international forces into the Palestinian enclave, a senior US advisor said, speaking on condition of anonymity, Reuters reported.

„Currently, what we want to achieve is just basic stabilization of the situation. International stabilization forces are beginning to be built,“ the senior US advisor said.

Among the countries the United States is discussing contributing forces with are Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar and Azerbaijan, a second senior US advisor said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.
One of the advisors said no one will force Gaza residents to leave the Palestinian enclave.

„What we have said very clearly is that aid is coming, but no reconstruction money will go to areas controlled by Hamas,“ the first advisor said.
„We are considering starting reconstruction in areas that are currently zones without Hamas and without terror,“ he added.
