US House of Representatives fails to pass separate aid bill for Israel

(Patria) - The House of Representatives failed to pass a bill on aid to Israel proposed by Republicans, the TASS news agency reported, citing C-SPAN.

The bill, which did not include any aid to Ukraine, was supported by 250 members of the lower house of the US Congress, while 180 lawmakers voted against it. A two-thirds majority in this chamber was required for the measure to pass.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he would veto the bill if it were passed without a provision for aid to Ukraine.

In addition, Biden and Democrats wanted to include in this aid bill funds for Taiwan, US military needs, and strengthening the border with Mexico, from where numerous illegal migrants arrive.
