US President decides on Iran deal in White House Situation Room

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump announced on social media that he will make a final decision on the Iran deal today during a meeting in the so-called White House Situation Room.

Trump stated that a potential agreement should include Iran's commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, opening the Strait of Hormuz, removing all naval mines, lifting the US blockade of Iranian ports, as well as the United States removing and destroying Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium.

"No money will be exchanged for the time being. Agreement has been reached on other far less important matters. I will hold a meeting now in the Situation Room to make a final decision," Trump posted on the Truth Social platform.

Iran earlier today stated that it expects actions, not words, from the US, after sources said Trump is considering a framework US-Iran agreement to extend the truce and open the Strait of Hormuz.

- We do not trust guarantees and words; actions are the only criterion. No action will be taken before the other side acts.

The winner of any agreement is the one better prepared for war the day after - said Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.

The Axios portal reported yesterday that US and Iranian negotiators have reached a framework agreement to extend the truce and launch negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

A period of 60 days is reportedly foreseen for this. When asked by journalists, US sources confirmed the content of the report.

Axios reported that the terms of the agreement were largely finalized by Tuesday, but both sides still need approval from their political leadership.

However, Tasnim, a news agency close to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), later reported that no preliminary agreement has been finalized or confirmed, citing a source close to the negotiating team.
