(Patria) - The White House reportedly believes it is close to an agreement with Iran that would end the war.
This is claimed by the American Axios, citing two US officials and two other sources familiar with the negotiations.
According to Axios, the agreement would, among other things, include Iran's commitment to a moratorium on uranium enrichment, the US lifting sanctions on Tehran, and the removal of restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz by both sides.
It is also added that the US expects an Iranian response on several key points within the next 48 hours.
Military analyst Sean Bell said this is a potentially positive step, but warns that the information should be viewed with caution.
"Since this conflict began, we have heard various statements, especially those coming from the American president's Truth Social. If we had taken every one of them at face value, we would be in big trouble today," Bell told Sky News.
He added that one positive conclusion can still be drawn.
"I think it's positive that, although there are currently no formal negotiations between America and Iran, it is quite clear that Pakistan continues to work intensively behind the scenes," he said.
