(Patria) - A high-ranking US general said yesterday that Israel has not received every weapon it requested, partly because the Joe Biden administration was unwilling to provide certain armaments.
Washington sends $3.8 billion in military aid to Israel annually, its long-time ally.
The US has urgently sent anti-aircraft defense systems and ammunition to Israel, but some Democrats and Arab-American groups have criticized the Biden administration for its unwavering support for Israel, which they say gives the impression of impunity.
- Although we support them militarily, they have not received everything they asked for. Partly because they asked for things we cannot deliver or are unwilling to deliver, not now - said General Charles Q. Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army.
Israel's offensive has caused opposition within Biden's Democratic Party, leading thousands of people in party primaries to declare themselves "uncommitted".
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant in Washington earlier this week, and the Pentagon announced that security assistance to Israel was discussed.
