
(Patria) - US federal agents shot two people in Portland on Thursday afternoon, police said, adding that they were taken to hospital and their condition is unknown, Reuters reported.
"Two people are in hospital after a shooting involving federal agents," Portland police said.
Police said they were not involved in the incident.
ABC News affiliate reported that the agents involved in the shooting were agents of US Customs and Border Protection and that the FBI is leading the investigation.
"Their (the people who were shot) condition is unknown. Officers determined that two people were injured in a shooting involving federal agents," police said.
"We understand the heightened emotions and tension many are feeling after the shooting in Minneapolis, but I ask the community to remain calm as we work to learn more," Police Chief Bob Day said.
