(Patria) - The US Ambassador to Ukraine said on Thursday that Ukrainian pilots are undergoing training in the United States on F-16 fighter jets, Reuters reported.
The US approved the sending of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from the Netherlands and Denmark in August after pilot training is completed.
"Ukrainian pilots are now training with the Arizona National Guard on the F-16," said Ambassador Bridget Brink on X.
"This is an essential part of building Ukraine's air defense. The United States is proud to work with European partners to support Ukraine against Russia's brutal aggression."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has pledged to build an "F-16 coalition," and the Netherlands and Denmark are among those who have taken the lead in supplying the aircraft. Ukraine's Air Force consists mainly of Soviet-era aircraft.
