Ambassador Cormack presents awards to BiH Armed Forces members for Afghanistan mission

U.S. Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack presented awards on Monday to Major Marinko Romić, Captain Miralem Čanić and Lieutenant Hamdija Elezović for the leadership they demonstrated as members of the 115th Military Police Battalion as part of the joint peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- Today we are not only recognizing three officers of the Armed Forces of BiH, today we express respect for all men and women in uniform who proudly serve this country and represent BiH honorably and with dignity. We are proud and encouraged by our cooperation with professionals from BiH who are both partners and friends, and we look forward to further strengthening our partnership - said Cormack.

The recognition received by the BiH Armed Forces officers states:

This certifies that the President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order of August 24, 1962, has awarded the Bronze Star Medal to Captain Marinko Romić for exceptionally meritorious service during Operation Enduring Freedom. Captain Romić's exceptional dedication to his duties during combat operations in Afghanistan contributed to the immense success of this command's mission. His conduct is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself.

The Department of the Army certifies that the Under Secretary of the Army has awarded the Army Commendation Medal to Lieutenant Hamdija Elezović for exceptionally meritorious service during Operation Enduring Freedom. Lieutenant Elezović's exceptional dedication to his duties during combat operations in Afghanistan contributed to the immense success of this command's mission. His conduct is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself.

The same recognition was awarded to Captain Miralem Čanić.
