Ambassadors of the Quint and EU: There must be a swift and coordinated response at the country level

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ambassadors of the EU, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America met today with the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ambassadors strongly welcomed the Presidency's conclusion and its commitment to lead the process towards the implementation of reforms according to the key priorities set out in the European Union's Opinion on strengthening democracy, functionality, rule of law, public administration reform, and fundamental rights.

Expressing a clear vision for achieving progress is of utmost importance in the context of the upcoming Zagreb Summit between EU and Western Balkan leaders, which will be held on May 6. For the representatives of the authorities in BiH, the summit is an opportunity to put unity above divisions and show leadership and determination to improve this country.

The path to accession to the European Union implies strengthening the functionality of institutions, as well as restoring citizens' trust.

The ambassadors also called for the continuation of coordinated efforts by the authorities in responding to Covid-19 in order to save lives and reduce the risk to public health.

It is of essential importance to continue working in this spirit in the coming months to ensure adequate measures and work on resolving the socio-economic consequences of Covid-19. Recovery will take time, and therefore there must be a swift and coordinated response at the country level.

The ambassadors renewed their commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens.
