Polish Ambassador: It's time for BiH to seize its five minutes on its path to the EU

(Patria) - Minister of Defense of BiH Zukan Helez, with his deputy Aleksandar Goganović, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to BiH Andrzej Jasionowski today for an inaugural visit.

During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral and international cooperation, Euro-Atlantic integrations, Polish soldiers who are part of the EUFOR forces in BiH, the global security situation, as well as the impact of current crises on the security situation in BiH.

Helez emphasized that he appreciates Poland's significant contribution to peacekeeping operations in BiH as a NATO member.

- Cooperation in the field of defense between our two countries is not particularly intensified but is in the spirit of friendship, which contributes to the development of the BiH Armed Forces, and Poland, as a NATO member, is a respectable partner on BiH's path to the EU and NATO.

Our two countries do not have a signed Defense Cooperation Agreement, nor any other legal act in the process of conclusion. Potential military cooperation between the two countries can be realized in the field of training, specifically the participation of members of the BiH Armed Forces in training activities in Poland - said Helez.

He also informed Ambassador Jasionowski about the stage of realization of the Support Package (DCB) and asked if Poland could get involved and help our country through this package.

The Polish Ambassador thanked the minister and his deputy for their hospitality, saying that it is true that BiH has its five minutes when it comes to its path to the EU.

- I hope you will seize this moment and gain negotiator status in March. Poland supports your aspirations for the NATO alliance as well. I also support the education of your members at academies in Poland - added Jasionowski.
