Ambassador Čardaklija: No Bosnian citizens injured in attacks on Iran, one requested evacuation

(Patria) - The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Iran, Nijaz Čardaklija, stated for N1 that all BiH citizens residing in Iran are currently safe and in constant contact with the embassy in Tehran. He adds that the situation in the capital is calm, without panic, and that daily life is proceeding normally.

The BiH Embassy is in constant contact with all our citizens in Iran, not just in Tehran. Today, the BiH diaspora is small, and I personally, as well as my colleague Mojmar Spajić, know every one of our citizens in Iran. They all have my phone number and contact me if they need anything – Čardaklija said.

He emphasizes that none of them were in danger during this morning's Israeli strikes.

– There is no panic. The situation in Tehran is stable, shops are open, people are going out, buying groceries, life is functioning normally. Tehran is not a war zone, because there are no military or nuclear targets either in the city itself or around it. These facilities are located far away – in the south and east of the country. There were no strikes on Tehran in this wave of attacks either – he added.

According to him, 99% of BiH citizens are in the capital.

– Yesterday we had a meeting with our citizens at the embassy, and today we will have another one, to talk and hear their opinions. People are working normally and are at their workplaces – said the ambassador.

However, as he stated, one citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina who is staying in Iran as a tourist expressed a desire to cut his stay short and leave the country.

– This is about a gentleman who contacted us from Shiraz, in southwestern Iran. He asked for advice on how to leave the country. We are in contact with him and will help him leave Iran properly and without problems. I do not expect complications, it is possible that there will be no flights today, but the situation will calm down soon – Čardaklija explained.

He emphasizes that the first sign of stabilization will be the establishment of regular air traffic, which, as he says, will be a clear signal that de-escalation is occurring.

– We continue to call for calm. It is expected that Israel may further intensify operations, which could lead to an even stronger response from Iran. The first wave of 100 drones was more symbolic – concluded the BiH Ambassador to Iran.
