US Embassy: We are shocked by Izetbegović's inflammatory comments and Dodik's reaction

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - We are shocked and appalled by yesterday's inflammatory comments by Bakir Izetbegović, which predictably prompted an irresponsible response from Milorad Dodik, according to the reaction of the US Embassy in BiH to yesterday's statement by SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović about military strength in BiH, when he stated: "We have counted - both how many fighter jets we have, and how many young people, and how many instructors we have on drones, and so on. I won't go further, but just so you know.".

"30 years ago, the citizens of this country experienced a brutal war," the US Embassy stated, adding:

"In 2022, they deserve better than leaders who appeal to ethnic divisions and incite ethnic tensions. The citizens of BiH deserve leaders who will work for the common good and make the difficult decisions necessary for BiH to secure its place in the Euro-Atlantic community of nations.".

They also state that "genuine commitment to cooperation and compromise - rather than implicit threats of resorting to violence - is needed to solve this country's worsening problems.".
