US Embassy on the verdict for Stanišić and Simatović: We hope it can provide some sense of justice to victims and their families

(Patria) - The US Embassy in Sarajevo welcomed today's verdict for former heads of the State Security Service (SDB) of Serbia Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović, who were definitively sentenced to 15 years in prison each by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (IRMCT).

"We welcome today’s decision of the Appeals Chamber of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (Mechanism) in the case of Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović.

This is a vital step toward holding the individuals who were responsible for the immense suffering of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina accountable.
