US Embassy: We hope this verdict will bring closure to the victims and their families

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - We are aware of today's verdict of the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the US Embassy in Sarajevo announced.

- The United States supports the important work of this Tribunal and respects its verdict. Today's verdict in the case against Jadranko Prlić and others represents an important step towards establishing accountability for individuals who caused immense suffering to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that this verdict will bring closure to the victims and their families and provide a sense that justice has been at least partially served.

We call on all parties to accept this verdict and once again turn to continued engagement on reconciliation and peaceful coexistence, which are necessary for the future of a stable, secure Bosnia and Herzegovina where the rights of all its citizens are protected - the US Embassy said.
