Embassy of Palestine: Commemoration of the Nakba

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that 'May fifteenth marks every year the anniversary of the Great Nakba, the catastrophe of the Palestinian people, when the gangs of the Zionist movement committed the most heinous and greatest crime of theft in history and tore the Palestinian people away from their homeland, and destroyed their cities and villages, aided by world colonialist forces led by Great Britain.'

'They proclaimed the establishment of the Israeli entity on the territory of our homeland after they killed and expelled the Palestinian people and committed the worst crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing in history.

Despite the fact that our Nakba, the suffering and displacement of our people from their homeland, continues, Israel continues to occupy what remains of the territory of historical Palestine and what resolutions of international law and the peace process have recognized as the territory intended for the State of Palestine. By this, we mean the West Bank of the Jordan River, Holy Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, which are Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.

Furthermore, the government of the Israeli occupier announced, with the support and encouragement of the American administration led by Trump, that it will annex large parts of the Palestinian territory to the Israeli occupying entity, preceded by Trump's decision to move his embassy to Jerusalem, thus recognizing it as the capital of Israel. In addition, it announced, with Trump's support, that it will also annex Holy Jerusalem.

Today, on the anniversary of the Nakba, we demand that the whole world take responsibility by implementing resolutions of international law and by restarting the peace process under international auspices, based on the references of the peace initiative reflected in the resolutions of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.

We demand that Israel immediately acknowledge its political, legal, and moral responsibility for the crimes it has committed against the Palestinian people.

We also demand that the British Government acknowledge the historical injustice it has inflicted upon our people.

The continuation of the occupation, the construction of illegal settlements, annexation decisions, policies of killing, terror, arrests, and destruction of homes, carried out daily by the Israeli occupying government, represent the destruction and end of any opportunity for peace.

On the anniversary of the Nakba, our people once again insist on the right to return, freedom, and other legitimate rights, primarily the establishment of their own state on the territory of their homeland with Holy Jerusalem as its capital, and the sacred right to return.

On this anniversary, we send greetings to all friendly and free peoples of the world, and we greet the martyrs, prisoners, and refugees of our people around the world, with the message that we will undoubtedly win and that we will surely return to our homeland - stated in the press release of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Bosnia and Herzegovina", the statement from the Embassy of Palestine said.
