Amman: Foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar meet with Blinken today

(Patria) - The foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar will meet today in Amman with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the war between Israel and Hamas, agencies reported.

A statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry on Friday said that a representative of the Palestinian Authority will also join the talks, which will focus on "the repercussions... of a dangerous escalation that threatens security across the entire region."

During the talks, the ministers will emphasize "the Arab position calling for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and ways to end the dangerous deterioration that threatens the security of the region," the statement said.

In Israel's attack, more than 9,000 civilians have been killed so far, while a humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Blinken, who arrived on Friday after an earlier meeting with Israeli leaders, said the United States is determined that there will be no second or third front in the conflict. He also appealed to Israel to take steps to protect civilians in Gaza.

Arab ministers will hold a meeting before talks with Blinken with the aim of lobbying major powers to pressure Israel to halt its military campaign, officials said, according to Arab media.

"This coordination meeting is part of their efforts to end the Israeli war in Gaza, which is causing a humanitarian catastrophe," the statement said.
