Alipašino Polje: Investigation completed but cause of fire in Konzum unknown

The cause of the fire that broke out on Friday, May 20, in the business premises of HFT in the Konzum building in Alipašino Polje is still unknown, and the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office has heard several witnesses regarding the circumstances of the fire, said Azra Bavčić, spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, for the Patria news agency.

As Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, told Patria, the investigation has been completed, and the building is being guarded by members of a security agency.

The fire, which broke out in the morning hours and was fought by nearly 40 firefighters, was brought under control only in the late afternoon hours. The biggest problem was the roof structure, under which the fire was smoldering and which began to collapse. One firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze. All the glass on the building cracked due to the heat.

Although there is still no official damage assessment, it can already be said that the amount is in the millions.

Even today, the smell of burning can be felt in the immediate vicinity of this building, as well as in the surrounding business premises.
