Alarming: Four attempted child abductions near Sarajevo schools in one week

The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a public statement regarding media reports and information circulating on social networks about child abductions near schools in Sarajevo Canton, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that on 04.10.2016, the II Police Administration was informed by the pedagogue of Primary School "Pofalići", Ivanjska Street, Novo Sarajevo Municipality, that they received information from three students of the aforementioned school about seeing an unknown male person near the school who invited them to go with him, which the students refused.

Also, on 06.10.2016, police officers responded to a call from a parent in Humska Street, Novo Sarajevo Municipality, where the mother of a girl stated that her daughter, who was with a friend near the school, was invited by an unknown male person to go with him, which the girls refused.

On 12.10.2016, around 10:45 AM, the II Police Administration was informed that in Humska Street, Novo Sarajevo Municipality, an unknown man in a "VW Kombi" vehicle approached a student of Primary School "Pofalići", inviting him to get into the vehicle, which the boy refused and reported the incident to police officers.

On 10.10.2016 at 4:00 PM, the parents of a minor girl informed the I Police Administration that on the same day around 2:30 PM, in Bardakčije Street, Centar Sarajevo Municipality, a "VW Kombi" vehicle stopped next to her, and a masked, unknown male person from the vehicle invited her to get in, which she refused and managed to escape.

Acting on the reports, police officers patrolled the mentioned locations, but did not observe or find any individuals who could be linked to the reported incidents.

According to the statements from the competent police administrations, the prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo was informed about all cases, who assessed that there were no elements of a criminal offense in any of the reported incidents, and that official notes should be made about them.

Police officers continue to work to verify the allegations and fully clarify the described events.
