Alarming data: Economic crime, corruption and number of drug addicts on the rise

The FBiH Government accepted the Information on the security situation in the Federation of BiH for the period January-June 2015, prepared following the initiative of the SDP Club to hold a session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament where this issue will be discussed as a priority, writes the Patria news agency.

In a very detailed and comprehensive Information, which will be forwarded to the House of Representatives, it is stated that during the first part of 2015, compared to the same period last year, the number of committed criminal offenses decreased by 1,614 (or 13.8 percent), while their clearance rate increased by 2.28 percent. A decrease in the number of misdemeanors in the area of public order and peace by 406 (or 4.7 percent) was also recorded, as well as the number of attacks on authorized officials by 83 (76.1 percent). At the same time, the number of traffic accidents increased by 822 (or 6.6 percent), in which the number of fatalities increased by 3.9 percent, and the number of injured by 6.9 percent.

In the reporting period, the total number of criminal offenses against property decreased by 16.2 percent (aggravated theft by 17.3 percent, theft by 18.3 percent, robbery by 2.1 percent, and motor vehicle theft by 11.9 percent).

An increase in criminal offenses is evident in the areas of economic and financial crime by 10.3 percent, corruption by 45.5 percent, and drug abuse by 7.6 percent.

In the first six months of 2015, 7,155 persons were suspected of committing criminal offenses, which represents a decrease of 15.1 percent compared to the comparative period. Among the perpetrators, the number of minors decreased by 35.8 percent, as well as the number of repeat offenders by 16.4 percent.

The adopted Report on the work of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs for the first six months of 2015 will, based on the Government's conclusion, be submitted to the President and Vice Presidents of the Federation of BiH and the FBiH Parliament.
