Alagić: The dog's owner is solely responsible for the attack on Halid

Public condemnation of the dog attack on a three-year-old boy in Bihać a few days ago continues!

The director of the Veterinary Station in this city, Zekerijah Alagić, also commented, stating in an interview for the BiH news agency Patria that the dog attack on the boy occurred solely due to the irresponsibility of the dog's owner, who had previously attacked passers-by.

- People keep aggressive, large dogs, and don't take care of them at all. Yards are not fenced. They keep dogs in inadequate conditions. The dog that attacked the boy had caused problems before, it ran away from home. It is known that it does not like children and women carrying bags and that it attacks them – said Alagić.

He says that in all developed European countries, the inspection tests dogs for aggressiveness every year. If the test shows that the dog is aggressive, it is necessarily euthanized. However, this is not followed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In about ten days, the veterinary inspector will decide on the fate of the dog that attacked three-year-old Halid, and the cantonal prosecutor has already launched an investigation against Samir H., who is the owner of the aggressive Rottweiler. However, even if the dog is euthanized, the reaction has come too late. The attack will leave permanent consequences on the boy and his mother.

We remind you that three days ago at the bus station in Bihać, while returning from Sarajevo where she was visiting relatives, an aggressive dog snatched her sleepy son Halid from the hands of Sabina Čović and began to bite him. The dog dragged the boy and threw him around the street. The mother tried to save her son, but the furious dog also lunged at her.

Fortunately, a group of young men happened to pass by at that moment, who managed to drive the dog away, and Sabina and little Halid were taken to the Emergency Room.

The boy has 13 stitches on his cheek and several on his leg.
