UIO Operation: 1,152 high-quality religious prayer beads also seized, value of goods 17,000 KM

As part of planned operational activities to control the import of goods of Asian origin, officials of the Regional Centre Sarajevo, Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, discovered certain discrepancies during the inspection of a container shipment.

A detailed physical inspection of the arrived container shipment was carried out, and certain discrepancies in the quantity and type of goods declared for customs clearance were established. The excess goods included: 500 car wipers, 500 car warning triangles, and 1,152 high-quality religious prayer beads.

The value of the goods subject to the offence is estimated at 17,000 KM. During the discovery of the excess goods, the means and equipment, as well as frequent training of UIO officials by the EXBS program through the US Government, were of great importance and assistance.

A legal and responsible person will be subject to misdemeanor proceedings before the competent court.
