Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH Action: Counterfeit Phone Cases, Tobacco, and Bags Seized

Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH temporarily seized various counterfeit Samsung mobile device parts at Sarajevo International Airport, valued at 30,000 BAM, the ITA BiH announced, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

- Customs officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority prevented an attempt to illegally import counterfeit Samsung mobile device parts. The goods originated from China and were supposed to arrive at the Customs Post in Tuzla from Sarajevo Airport. This involves 1,038 parts that are counterfeit for Samsung mobile devices. The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at 30,000 BAM. The goods were temporarily seized, and a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the individuals who carried out the import before the competent court.

Additionally, goods illegally imported into BiH, valued at 100,000 BAM, were seized at the Arizona Market.

- Based on collected intelligence information about the sale of various goods in BiH that did not go through the legally prescribed customs procedure and on which import duties were not paid, officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the Tuzla Regional Center conducted checks on taxpayers in the Arizona Market area. During this, a large quantity of foreign goods (various belts - 2,000 pieces, various bags - 2,500 pieces) with a market value of 100,000 BAM was found in the taxpayer's sales premises. There was no procurement documentation for these goods, nor proof that customs procedures were carried out for them, and that import duties were collected in accordance with the law. Therefore, the goods in question were temporarily seized, and for the established irregularities, a Request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the owner of the retail store before the competent court, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Misdemeanors of BiH.

The action was also carried out at the Velika Pijaca market in Orašje, where, together with officers of the BiH Border Police, 143 kilograms of cut tobacco for rolling and smoking, which was being sold illegally, were temporarily seized. In the area of the "Agrotržni centar" wholesale market in Bijeljina, 67 KG of smoking tobacco and 150 packs of cigarettes were temporarily seized.
