ACTION IN BELGRADE Srebrenica - the name of genocide: Serbia has become a society of moral zombies

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The public action "Srebrenica - the name of genocide" was held tonight in the center of Belgrade. 

Women in Black, an organization that is one of the few in Serbia with a clear stance on the genocide committed in Srebrenica, is the organizer of this year's event on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the most serious crime in Europe since World War II. 

"Genocide is a forbidden word in Serbia, regime media create paranoia at the mere mention of the word. Serbia has become a community of zombies that does not want to see, know, or accept the truth," were some of the messages. 

Those gathered in the Square in the center of the Serbian capital stood behind a banner "Srebrenica - the name of genocide", while a banner calling for the removal of the mural of Ratko Mladić was also displayed. 

The square was covered with black crepe to reveal the moral collapse of society. It should be noted that this year too, official representatives of the Serbian authorities will not be present at the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica. 

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) will present a digital art installation "Life is What the Dead Dream Of" by author Mia David tomorrow in Belgrade, on the 27th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, which displays the names of the victims on the House of the National Assembly in Belgrade via mobile phone.

"The digital project by the author 'Life is What the Dead Dream Of' creates an augmented reality in which the victims of genocide are visible all around the National Assembly," according to a joint statement by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR), the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV), and the Forum ZFD.

As they explained, by moving the phone, those present will see 8,372 names with birth dates "floating around the Assembly, reminding of their absence".
