Action by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and USKOK: Arrests in BiH and Croatia, forged documents found

At the agreed signal, this morning at 06:00, an international operation codenamed „Art“ began, carried out in cooperation with USKOK structures in the Republic of Croatia, it was announced from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

By order of prosecutors from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, police officers of SIPA are conducting searches and deprivations of liberty in the area of Posavina.

On the ground are a prosecutor and an investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who coordinate the work of police officers and cooperation with colleagues in Croatia.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3 suspects have been deprived of liberty, while colleagues in Croatia are conducting activities targeting a total of 8 persons who are the subject of the operation.

During searches in the territory of Croatia, a certain amount of forged documents was found, including forged official police documents.

This is a complex and multi-month investigation, targeting several persons in two countries, who are suspected of organizing for the purpose of committing criminal offenses and a whole series of other criminal acts, namely forgery of official documents, passports, documents, as well as official identification cards of police agencies.

The activities were agreed between the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and USKOK at the highest level, after which an investigation began aimed at uncovering and dismantling this organized group.

Colleagues from BiH and Croatia are in constant contact, and the persons deprived of liberty in BiH will be handed over to the acting prosecutor, who will examine the suspects and then make a decision on proposing measures of detention or prohibition measures in accordance with the law.

Operation „Art“ demonstrates the determination of prosecutorial and police capacities in BiH to deal with the most complex forms of cross-border crime, in cooperation with police and judicial institutions from neighboring countries and the European Union.
