Prosecutor's Office of BiH and BiH Border Police Operation Against Migrant Smugglers

(Patria) - Acting on the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, police officers of the Border Police, in two cases, apprehended a total of 3 suspects.

The suspects, who are foreign nationals, are under investigation and are accused of organizing, communicating, and smuggling illegal migrants into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a longer period.

In one case, the suspects used a vessel to smuggle multiple individuals across the river border into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, facilitating illegal border crossings.

By committing these criminal offenses, the perpetrators gain illegal property benefits, and damage is caused to Bosnia and Herzegovina by disrupting the security situation, enabling illegal migrations, and increasing the number of individuals staying illegally in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of heading towards EU countries.

After questioning the suspects, the acting prosecutor will decide on the proposal for detention measures, prohibition measures, as well as further investigative activities in these cases.
