Operation "Island": Four Persons Arrested for Unauthorised Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs

Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), in a coordinated operation with police officers of the West Herzegovina Canton Ministry of Interior codenamed „Island“, this morning (18 May 2016) deprived four persons of their liberty in the area of Ljubuški and searched premises at three locations.

Deprived of liberty were persons with initials D.V. (1980), Z.P. (1991) and A.B. (1987), citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a person with initials R.K. (1985), a citizen of Albania, on the grounds of reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offence of organised crime in connection with the criminal offence of unauthorised trafficking in narcotic drugs.

 The aforementioned activities were carried out pursuant to orders of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of police officers of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Ministry of Interior and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 The persons deprived of liberty are suspected of having, as members of an organised criminal group, engaged in unauthorised trafficking of the narcotic drug „cocaine“ from the territory of Croatia and Germany to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of acquiring unlawful material gain, which they further distributed in quantities ranging from five to 100 grams to end dealers and users in the area of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the West Herzegovina Canton. 

As part of today's operation, premises at three locations in the area of Ljubuški were searched. During the searches, mobile phones, SIM cards, a package of a white powdery substance resembling the narcotic drug „cocaine“ in appearance, and other items that may serve as evidence in further proceedings were found and temporarily seized.
