OPERATION NEVRA: Prosecutor's Office of BiH seeks pre-trial detention for Imamović, Begić, and Subašić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After questioning the suspects in the presence of their lawyers, the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has submitted a request to the Court of BiH for pre-trial detention for three suspects who were apprehended in an operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, in the area of Sarajevo and its surroundings.

The prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed a detailed reasoned motion for pre-trial detention for the suspects: Imamović Edvin (1989), Begić Emir (1992), and Subašić Emir (1989), all born in Sarajevo, citizens of BiH.

Pre-trial detention has been requested due to the risk of the suspects absconding, the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if released, as well as the risk of re-offending or completing the attempted crime.

Within the investigative and operational activities, information and evidence have been collected indicating that the suspects have been engaged for a longer period in the area of Sarajevo and beyond in the unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs, as well as smuggling of narcotic drugs from neighboring countries for further resale in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and further distribution to the illegal drug market of European Union countries, thereby acquiring illegal financial gain.

During the searches, the following were found and temporarily confiscated: hand grenades, pistols with corresponding magazines and a certain amount of ammunition, a semi-automatic rifle with a folding stock, a larger quantity of narcotic drugs "marijuana" and "speed", several mobile phones, digital scales, a large sum of money, as well as other items that may serve as evidence in further proceedings.

The individuals under investigation in the aforementioned case are suspected of the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs and money laundering under the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, together with partner police institutions, continues the investigation with the aim of fully shedding light on and documenting the illegal activities of the suspects and the commission of criminal offenses in this case. The motion for pre-trial detention has been submitted to the Court of BiH, where a hearing on the prosecutor's motion is expected to be scheduled.
